Watch: New Video for The War on Drugs’ “Brothers”

The War on Drugs – Brothers from Secretly Jag on Vimeo.

The War On Drugs are excited to share the brand new video for “Brothers,” one of the many highlights off their stellar Slave Ambient. Following the more kaleidoscopic videos for “Baby Missiles” and “Come to the City,” the “Brothers” video, which premiered this morning via New York Magazine’s Vulture, definitely takes a different approach with its bleak western narrative. More on the “Brothers” video from the director team of Brewer, a pair of brothers (Ben and Alex), actually, is below.

“We kept picturing it as the soundtrack to a dark western like Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid or Unforgiven. That is where the deranged T.V cowboy character came from. We wanted the video to feel like the most exciting five minutes taken out of a longer movie. The biggest challenge in the filming was how to make the old cowboy (played by David Weindel) seem threatening, and how to make the nurse (played by Tallie Medel) seem like she was dealing with the situation the way a normal person might really handle such a nightmare.”

In case you missed it, The War On Drugs played a pretty damn perfect performance of “Baby Missiles” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon a couple of weeks ago for their late night TV debut, complete with two drummers, including special guest, ?uestlove, and dueling keyboards. After five solid months of touring, and several more on the horizon (full schedule HERE), this domination by the ‘Drugs was by no means a fluke!

The War On Drugs’ “Come to the City” 7-inch single is available this week on Secretly Canadian. Listen to the b-side, “Don’t Fear The Ghost”-HERE.

“Assembled in a Brooklyn basement, Porcelain Raft’s debut Strange Weekend has this DIY aesthetic, but tolerates no defects in presentation. Italy native Mauro Remiddi’s solo project is built on meticulously constructed and delicately polished dream-pop soundscapes, delivered with urgency and momentum. “ A.V. Club

“The album is lush and opaque, brimming with gorgeous melodies that will keep you company for the rest of the day.” Pretty Much Amazing

Gardens & Villa Compose Film Score & Set to Play at Coachella? It’s True!

Gardens & Villa is the gift that keeps on giving. Just when we thought we’d have to wait for the EP to hear anything new from Santa Barara’s loveliest gang, G&V throws us a bone. And believe me, it’s a pretty cool bone. As part of the 27th Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the boys are composing an original film score to F.W. Murnau’s silent film, “Faust.” G & V will perform the music live on February 4th at Lobero Theatre. The event is co-presented by the New Noise Music Foundation and falls under the festival’s new Cinesonic facet. You can get your tickets HERE.

In other awesome news, GARDENS & VILLA ARE PLAYING THIS YEAR’S COACHELLA. Please try to contain your excitement; it’s been extremely difficult to do so over here. You can see them on both weekends of the festival. Checkout the LINEUP.
