Just off their summer tour, FOREIGN BORN took a few minutes to catch up with The Trip Wire and freshen up after their latest stint on the road. Miraculously in mid-shave Matt was able to talk a bit about the band’s troubles driving through Texas and how Sal got handcuffed.
At the tail end of their recent, month-long North American tour, the men of LA’s FOREIGN BORN made a mid-day pit stop into popular Brooklyn watering hole Heathers as part of FADERTV’s most awesome Open Bar series, performing an intimate take on the benga-dappled “Early Warnings,” a cut from the band’s Secretly Canadian debut.
Quoth FADER of its hang sesh with Fo’ Bo’: “They had a few beers, broke out some pretty haggard looking instruments and told us tour bummers, like having their van searched for drugs by West Texas cops. They also, with the exception of singer Matt Popieluch, did not remove their sunglasses once, which is either a cause or effect of the fuzz hassles. We may never know.”
The pride of Los Angeles, FOREIGN BORN, recently appeared on the esteemed KCRW’s LA institution Morning Becomes Eclectic. Said KCRW of the band: “I’ve been hearing about Foreign Born on the LA music scene for years now and, truthfully, I never had a chance to catch one of their shows. Watching them this morning, I really wish I had made the effort earlier. They are certainly deserving of all the praise I’ve heard – lively songs with soaring vocals and guitar melodies and rhythms influenced by Kenyan music.” Listen to the show HERE and check a video of the entire session below.
