Bowlegs brings us a new video of Exitmusic performing “The Night.” It’s off their recently released full-length debut, Passage, which Bowlegs says “not many records can balance power and beauty with such affecting results.” Watch above.
Premiering on Pitchfork yesterday, Exitmusic’s new video for “The Night,” off their recently released Passage, is now available for your viewing pleasure. The video follows a lost-looking Aleksa through an eerie, suburban house. Director Will Joines tells us, “For me, when Aleksa mentioned that song was about finding a loop hole to cheat the the separation of physical form, I immediately got excited about showing someone consumed and transformed by something greater than them self. Setting the video in a very ordinary environment seemed the perfect way to underscore this bizarre conversion.” Watch above!
“It’s (Passage) audacious and ambitious, twisting lyrics about depravity and loneliness into shared anthems meant for overcoming both.” – Pitchfork
Happy release day to Exitmusic! Passage is their debut release for Secretly Canadian and it’s now available online and in-stores. Grab your copy from SC Distribution or find your nearest record store. EM is busy wrapping up their tour – see final dates HERE. Don’t miss them at this year’s Hopscotch Fest!
“Passage surges, subsides and enthralls like a gothic Sigur Ros. Church’s guitar gives good Sturm und Drang but it’s Palladino’s vocal that’s centre-stage; occassionally a brooding murmur but more often a husky force of nature that could give the vengeful sirens of Greek mythology a run for their money.” 4 Stars – Mojo
“It broods and rumbles, full of anger and anguish and loneliness, before erupting in a squall of tortured release. It’s mostly bleak and intensely emotional, but also beautiful…But even (or perhaps especially) in its bleakest moments, Passage is one the most memorable and absorbing records you’ll hear in 2012.” – NPR
Exitmusic’s Aleksa Palladino brings us a new video of her performing an acoustic version of “Storms,” off the forthcoming album Passage. It’s out next Tuesday – you can still pre-order HERE. During Exitmusic’s live performances you see Aleksa as a powerhouse, acting as the driving force behind their dark, emotive sound, but here we see her in a softer light. Using only her iPhone to record, Aleksa sits down with a guitar and her voice for another captivating performance. Watch above.
